WITH POET IAN PATTERSON
It was a very special moment when I received a draft of Ian Patterson’s new book, Time Dust. The first eighteen poems, he told me, were written in response to a number of my works – in particular, Ream, Thinking about Touching and Doing and Undoing. The process was particularly intriguing as I'd been unaware that Ian was working on these poems and we had never met.
These poems reflect not only a sense of viewing the drawings but also encapsulate their materiality and evolving forms of construction. An on-going series of new drawings are a ‘response to a response’ – growing from p[oems in Time Dust.
