"I often use everyday objects as a starting point, destroying and transforming them, but doing this to someone else’s work was scary. The idea of a secret, safe place was appealing, but was overshadowed by the loss of my own safe space. I enjoyed the process of copying and altering Ginny’s drawing but my initial responses were tentative. 

 

After the workshop I went back to Ginny’s work and added more darkness and shadow, more colour, adding collaged plants which swamped the space, making it unwelcoming and unsafe. I feel this work could be taken further, but would need to be on a larger scale."
